Photo Ornament Assembly Tutorial

This tutorial is for the photo ornament that first arrived in the Silhouette Online Store in November or December of 2010.

These are the shapes you should have cut.

Shapes above will be numbered as follows:
top row (Left to Right)- 1 & 2;
bottom row (left to right)- 3, 4, & 5.

I find it easiest to attach you photo before getting started. Just be sure you do not cover up the slots. Also, if you don't want your photo's edge showing on the back or you want the photo to be on both sides, you could cut double of shape #3 and sandwich them around your photo. Just be sure that they have been well glued or taped to each other.

First we're going to work with shape 3 and 5. Slip the bottom slot of 3 into the bottom-inner slot of 5 as shown below.

Repeat for the top slots. (The top slot of 3 fits in the inner-top slot of 5)

This is what it should look like.

Next, we're going to slide the top slot of 4 into the top slot of our combined 3 & 5 as shown below:

Repeat with bottom slots. (slide bottom slot of 4 into bottom slot of 4&5)

This is what it will look like:

Next step is to place shape 1&2 on our 3-4-5 combo.  Take 1 (1 and 2 are the exact same shape) and slide the top side piece of the 3-4-5 combo into any slot of 1.

Next, slide the 3-4-5 combo's opposite top slot into 1's slot that is directly across from the slot you already used. It should look like this when done with this step:

Repeat with #2 and your bottom slots of the 3-4-5 combo. Once you do, it should look like this:

Now we just need to move 3, 4, or 5 into the empty slots. To do this, I find it easiest to move one side at a time as shown:

Then move the opposite side into place with it looking like this when done:

And now follow that last step with whichever shape is closest to your empty slots and your done!

I hope that made sense. If you have any questions, leave a comment and I'll answer it as soon as I see it. Have fun!

Snowglobe Tutorial

The snowglobe may look a little complicated at first but it is actually pretty easy as long as you realize that you have to connect the snowman first and then slide the top of the sphere together on each ring.  You will see below.  I labeled each piece as a letter to make it easier.  As far as A, B and C are concerned it DOES matter which order you go in.

BASE ASSEMBLY:

First take the three base pieces (F, G, and H) Stack F onto G then onto H.  That will give you the shape above as seen from the bottom.  This creates the base support.
Using outer ring "I" (the largest ring), take the base support and insert the cut out on the side into 2 of the ring slots.
Bend the base support in the very middle to give enough room to enter the opposite side of one of the ring supports.  Initially you will probably have multiple base supports in one slot in the ring, that's ok.  It makes it easier to separate later.  Then separate the base support to place the base supports into the other two slots on one side.  This should allow you to make the middle one straight as seen above.

Next separate the base supports on the opposite side to enter the slots.  You will need to bend them slightly to get them to fit in.  Once in you can straighten the cardstock.  Now the base is complete.

GLOBE ASSEMBLY:

First, paste the hat onto "A". Next grab piece "A" and "C" and insert the snowman of "C" into the gap of the snowman on "A" until the snowmen are matched up.
Next slide the top of the rings together so that the slots match up at the top.

Now insert the snowman on B into the joined A C snowman.
Once it bottoms out slide the top of the ring together to fit into the top cutout.

Hold the ABC joined piece together as if they are on and bend it slightly along the cut lines in the snow man.  Place ring D (D and E are identical it doesn't matter which is which) into the two cutouts in the top of the joint section and ring E into the bottom two cutouts, to create what is seen above.

Separate the sides of the joint ABC to place them in the cutouts in ring D and E.  It's best to complete one side at a time so that the center can straighten out before you separate the other side.

Lastly repeat the last step for the other side to complete the sphere.
Lastly insert to cutout at the base of the sphere into the base.  It doesn't matter too much where, I usually like it to straddle piece F since it is solid on the top.
Viola!  You have a snow globe.  Unfortunately you'll have to stand in a snowstorm and shake hard to make the snowfall.  I couldn't figure out how to make that happen.  Any ideas?

3D pumpkin assembly tutorial

Here are the pieces you will create for the 3D pumpkin.
To start, take "A" and "B". Slide A into the top slot of B like this:

Set  it aside.
Next, slide "C" into the bottom slot of "D" like this:

Now, take the first set of A&B and slide it into the top slot of C&D like this:

We're going to put the rings on now. (both rings are the same on the pumpkin)
Slightly bend your inner pumpkin (A,B,C,&D) to fit it in the center of the first ring and slide the ring down to the first slot:
Also align the inner pumpkin so that it's edges fit in slots directly across from each other:
Do the same thing for the bottom ring.

This next part is a little trickier. You're going to spread the inner pieces around the circle to the other slots.
Looking at the pumpkin from the end of it kind of like the picture above, move the top two inner pieces on the left 90 degrees to the right.
Then take the bottom two inner pieces on the right and move them 90 degrees to the left like the diagram below.
Now move one inner piece from each group of two clockwise to fill in the rest of the slots around the circle.

In the end, it should look something like this from the top:
You're done!
If you have any questions or get confused, leave a note on my facebook page and I'll help you out!
The bat and spider are similar assembly but if you get confused, let me know.
Good luck and enjoy!
